Simula nang nabasa ko ang mga short story ni Edgardo M. Reyes (Awtor ng
"Maynila: Sa Kuko ng Liwanag) sa librong "Mga Agos sa Disyerto" humanga
na ako sa mga gawa niya. Bagaman gusto ko rin ang gawa ng mga awtor ng
librong ito (Efren Abueg, Dominador Mirasol, Rogelio Sikat at Rogelio
Ordonez), higit na nakapukaw ng pansin sa akin ang mga gawa ni Reyes. Ang
mga gawa niya ay tipo ng mga kwentong sumasalamin sa tunay na buhay at
pangyayari.

Kung mahilig kayong magbasa ng mga maiikling kwento, nirerekomenta kong
basahin ninyo ang 13 Maikling Katha ni Edgardo M. Reyes. Buhay na buhay
ito, kumpara sa mga gawa ni Liwayway Arceo.

mahilig ako sa maiikling kwento pero minsan nakakatamad ng basahin dahil sa mga sobrang lalim ng pagkakatagalog di ko na maintindihan

Yung mga likha ni Edgardo M. Reyes ay madaling unawain. Malalalim yung
mga gawa nina Domingo Landicho, Liwayway Arceo, etc. Gusto nyo ng
realistic, maganda rin yung kay Lualhati Bautista (awtor ng "Bata, Bata Pano ka
Ginawa" at "Dekada 70"). Ang totoo, nahilig lang ako sa mga maiikling
kwentong Filipino noong mabasa ko ang "Mga Agos sa Disyerto" noong
college. Professor ko sa PUP ang isa sa mga awtor na yun (si Rogelio
Ordoñez) sa creative writing subject namin. Maniniwala ba kayo na ang unang
edisyon ng "Agos" ay lumabas noong 1964!!!!
